hi, i'm joe :~)

I'm a generalist product designer drawn to designing for social good. Throughout the last 4 years designing, I've worked at startups, scale ups, and agencies on variety of problem spaces from education to healthcare.

some lore…

While studying urban planning at the University of Waterloo, I got my start in product design by volunteering at UW Blueprint, where I designed for challenges that local nonprofits were facing. I loved how design could be used as a tool to do good, and to positively impact how people work.

From there, I dived into a handful of internships and volunteered at UW/UX, a student organization focused on growing the design community. Some highlights during this time include supporting the launch of an app to help Canadians access healthcare, and organizing events that brought hundreds of designers together.

Before all of this though, I learned Photoshop by making yearbook pages and MapleStory videos, which is probably my true design origin story.

misc.

Outside of design, some of the things I love include traveling, taking lots of photos, catching my favourite artists in concert, and trying new restaurants. Ask me for recommendations for where to eat in cities like Toronto, Vancouver, and New York.
